Paul Holland - Venture Capital Investor and Technology Leader

Paul Holland is a technology executive with more than two decades of experience supporting early-stage companies. Since 2001, he has served as a general partner at Foundation Capital in Palo Alto, California, where he sponsors and manages investments in software, consumer, and related fields from initial investment through liquidity. Over the course of seven funds, Paul Holland has backed startups that ultimately achieved more than $20 billion in combined market capitalization.

Before joining Foundation Capital, Paul Holland served as senior vice president of sales and global operations at Kana Communications. Recruited by early investor Benchmark Capital, he built the company's global commercial organization into a team of more than 300 employees across a dozen geographies. During his four-year tenure, annual sales grew from $10,000 to more than $140 million. In addition, the company completed an early public offering and reached a peak market capitalization exceeding $9 billion.

Mr. Holland previously spent five years at Pure Software, where he advanced from account executive to vice president of European Operations and helped take the company public before its acquisition by IBM. He began his career at SRI International, researching emerging technology trends and later working in regional business development.

Mr. Holland has also contributed extensively to business media, including more than a decade as a CNBC contributor.
